The Story of the Man and his Clay

The Early Years
In the early 1970's, I became fascinated by the combination of fire & clay. My first ceramics class was at Cabrillo College near Santa Cruz, CA. Continuing my education at CSU, Chico in Chico, CA; I majored in Art with an emphasis on Sculpture, Ceramics & Graphic Design earning my Bachelor of Arts in 1978.

The Process
I use an ancient electric 220 volt, 2 CU. Ft. Kiln for my firings. I also have two small 110 volt kilns (.3+.5Cu. Fu.) for bisque firings glaze tests, & small firings. I fire my pipes to cone 6 oxidation. (2200 FT)
The Results
My pipes are extruded clay, assembled and formed by hand. No two pipes are the same, like people, no two alike.
Final Thought
Forty years after my B.A. I'm still playing with my clay.
